\Much like the seminal Brewer and Stipley song suggests, a weed hangover may occur when you go over your personal limit. Now, a weed hangover isnât anything like itâs rowdy, troublesome, distant cousin, the alcohol hangover. A weed hangover can vary in symptoms and are generally much less intense. We arenât here to give you medical advice, but⌠we are stoners⌠so weâre here to tell you what weâve experienced.
Weed hangover symptoms:
- Brain fog and inability to focus
- Dull, persistent headache
- Dry, itchy eyes
- Grogginess or fatigue
- Dry mouth
- Sensitivity to bright lights and loud noises
- Lingering sensation of being high
Are weed hangovers real?
Studies show that they just might be real. In what we assume is one of the less boring studies, thirteen male cannabis smokers participated in a study to determine whether cannabis smoked in the evening would result in measurable subjective or other behavioural effects the following morning. The next morning some of the smokers had headaches, dry mouths and kept demanding Dennyâs Grand Slams with extra syrup or else they would cry very loudly.
Okay, maybe not that last part â but the point is, the weed hangover is something that some people experience and it can suck. Luckily, we have some ways to cope with the mush brain your may be feeling like.
What causes a weed hangover?
This may sound naggy but we swear weâre telling you this because we love you â itâs because of overconsumption. Yeah, the weed company just told you that there is such a thing as TOO much weed. Cue the âMind Blownâ gif. The fact is, too much THC is going to make you feel icky despite making you feel the good feels. Everyoneâs body is unique and has different THC tolerance, the trick is to know your limit and if you donât know your limit â take a note from The Eagles and âTake it Easyâ.
âBut Fire & Flower, I definitely feel a hangover the morning after an edible â whatâs up with that?â. OK, fair point. A lot of people report hangover symptoms the morning after consuming with methods like edibles, but it isnât exactly a hangover. Due to the slow rate at which edibles metabolize in your body, you could still be experiencing a lingering high. Mix the grogginess of waking up after polishing off 10 bags of family-sized Cheetos with a mild high and it may as well be a hangover, but donât worry â itâll pass when the high wears off.
How to recover?
The obvious answer is time, but you didnât come here to read that. Here are some things that might help:
Water
Who would have thought? Your inner gym trainer is screaming right now: âDrink more water!â. The honest truth is, a lot of symptoms may be relieved (and possibly attributed to dehydration) by the olâ H2O. Water can help annoying symptoms like headaches, dry mouth and dry eyes.
CBD
Excuse me? Did the weed company just suggest you smoke more weed to help your weed hangover? Look, hear us out. Studies show CBD may counteract the psychoactive effects of THC, which makes it the perfect remedy for a weed hangover. We suggest trying a CBD oil like Revity that has little to no THC in it.
Go for a walk
We know the idea of going outside and interacti
